The Wayman Teen Outreach Program (TOP) is a comprehensive youth development strategy that promotes the positive development of adolescents through a combination of curriculum-guided group discussion and volunteer service activity. TOP has proven highly effective in increasing school success and protecting youth from risk factors that contribute to teen pregnancy and school drop-out. The program is grounded in contemporary research and theory regarding the developmental, social and educational needs of young people ages 12 to 17.


The Wyman TOP Framework
TOP works by providing communities, organizations and schools with a tested framework for creating or enhancing local youth development efforts.
Three Essential Goals
Healthy Behavior - constructive actions that allow young people to be successful now and later in life,
Life Skills - competencies necessary to grow into healthy, self-sustaining adults.
Sense of Purpose - knowledge of their own . worth as they contribute to their communities through meaningful service.
Curriculum
The TOP curriculum, Changing Scenes, is packed in four appropriate levels, and includes a Welcome Handbook and a Community Service Learning Guide. Curriculum content includes:
