THE MANE EVENT
The Mane Event is a youth development initiative of the Southside St. Louis Lions Club to promote and support the positive potential of teenage youth from disadvantaged circumstances who would not otherwise have the opportunities and supports they will need to succeed and excel in life while making a meaningful contribution, throughout life, to their communities. The initiative is grounded in a long established, permanently endowed partnership with Wyman, a national youth development leader serving teens from low income and otherwise difficult backgrounds.Though begun by Southside Lions, the Mane Event welcomes the participation of other Lions Clubs or any other service club or organization interested in promoting the positive development of our young people who would otherwise be at risk.Southside Lions and Wyman have committed that their partnership will focus on best practice, results-proven programming shown to change the odds to favor the successful development of young people from disadvantaged circumstances.Because the needs of young people change and evolve as the culture and society to which they are exposed changes, the programmatic offerings of the Mane Event may change over time in response to those needs.What will never change about the Mane Event is the commitment to do what is best in the long term to support the young people’s positive development.
